It’s the time of year when we meet and greet our incoming Kinder friends who will start in MISD next fall! On Tuesday, April 28th @ 6:30 p.m; each elementary campus will host a special event for Kindergarten children and their parents. Come explore the world of Kinder, learn what you can do now to prepare for the first day, find out about daily routines and expectations, get a special surprise, and much more! Join us in the cafe and be ready to shake our hand in Kinder land!
Note: MANY THANKS for your patience and perseverance this week as we completed state-mandated testing.
It’s the time of year we begin preparations for next year by encouraging our incoming PreK, Head Start, and Kinder friends to visit our campus and start the enrollment process for August! On Monday, April 6 through Thursday, April 9, join us in the front office from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily to enroll online, ask questions of team members, see student work on display, and bring your documentation to copy. We will have laptops on hand to complete the online process, print your application, and then copy your required enrollment documentation.
We will also have our annual KinderKamp on Tuesday, April 28th in our LME cafe starting @ 6:30 p.m. Parents and next year’s Kinder friends are invited to visit our campus for an informational meeting and some Kinder fun regarding next year’s program offerings.
We always look forward to welcoming new friends to our growing campus!
It’s time to welcome our incoming Kinder friends to LME this week! Join us tomorrow evening, April 29th, at 6:30 p.m. in the LME Cafe as our outstanding Kinder Team shares informative tidbits with parents about the upcoming school year. Our Kinder friends will experience an engaging learning experience with two of our Kinder teachers while parents learn about daily school activities and expectations. Come meet our staff, ask those critical questions, and get a feel for our growing campus. As one “experienced” Kinder friend shared with me today, “Oh Mrs. Van, Kinder friends and fun are the best…you know that!” 🙂 We look forward to seeing you there!
You’ve heard it said before: “All we really need to know we learned in Kindergarten.” There’s gentle group of caring souls who strongly believe in the power of Kindergarten everyday. Pictured left to right are Michelle Spradley, Lauren Bergvall, Karyn Story, and Roanna Nanney. Each of these talented teachers gives heart, mind, body, and soul to our Kinder friends everyday!
Beyond the basic academics of expected curriculum, these leaders of young learners focus on the “how” and “why” aspects of everything from building relationships with peers and adults to sharing ideas with big hearts to having fun while learning challenging new material. For many of our Kinder friends, it is their first experience in “real school.” Great strides are made during this important year of instruction and these ladies will attest to the overwhelming growth (physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally) each student makes throughout the course of the school year.
Visiting classrooms and interacting with our new Kinder friends is a warm, fuzzy experience for me. These smiling faces LOVE to share their work, their ideas, their stories, and all the family secrets. As I tell Kinder parents in particular, “I’ll believe about 50% of what they tell me about you if you’ll believe about 50% of what they say about us.” Sharing just comes naturally.
Whether you’re a first-time Kinder parent or a veteran, we welcome you to join us throughout the year for many school “firsts” in our Kinder classrooms. Take lots of pictures and capture those magical moments…they grow up fast! Be brave and volunteer to read or assist on a project in the classroom and do some active lunch duty with us so you experience the “real” feel for Kindergarten. After all, if it were really that easy, wouldn’t everyone want to be Kinder teacher?! 🙂
